  • While sustainability focuses on a home’s impact on the environment, resilience focuses on the environment’s impact on the home. RHA prioritizes building and retrofitting structures to withstand all elements: winds, flooding, and other perils to ensure long-term physical and financial security.

  • No. RHA is a national non-profit initiative powered by a coalition of foundation partners and the generosity of our partners. We work alongside government officials and civic leaders, but we are an independent organization.

  • The Home Maintenance Score is a property-specific metric for Dallas homeowners that assesses your home’s ability to withstand geographically relevant hazards. It identifies vulnerabilities and provides a roadmap of actionable steps to fortify your property.

  • Yes, RHA will provide other maintenance scoring standards and resources for other locations, along with the national resources under the resources page.

  • We are working to transition 100 homes in weather-related high-risk neighborhoods to the meet the fortified standard, creating a blueprint for community-wide durability that can be scaled nationwide.

  • Certification gives you a distinct competitive edge. It verifies your technical capability to build to elite standards, which are increasingly sought after by homeowners, lenders, and protection providers.

    While RHA does not directly offer a certification, Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) and Crawford & Company offer certification options.

  • RHA offers a discounted training incentive through the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) FORTIFIED standards and connects you with industry-leading resources to ensure you are utilizing the most advanced building science available.

Partnerships & Funding

  • We invite all stakeholders in the housing ecosystem, including architects, developers, real estate professionals, local banks, non-profits, financial protection providers, and municipal leaders. If you play a role in how homes are built, remodeled, sold, or protected, there is a place for you in our coalition.

  • Our mission is funded through the contributions of our supporting partners, individuals and organizations who believe in a safer American infrastructure through home and property resiliency upgrades. These funds are used to provide capital for revolving loan funds and homeowner grants and subsidize contractor training.
