Resilient Home America (RHA) makes home resilience attainable by connecting homeowners with knowledge and financing to implement measurable improvements that reduce risk, lower ownership costs, and strengthen communities.

What is a Resilient Home?

A resilient home is constructed or upgraded to meet the FORTIFIED™ standards to withstand the weather-related risks of its region. Resilient homes are designed to reduce damage, minimize costly repairs, and recover more quickly when severe weather strikes. When a home is built to a higher standard, everyone benefits: the homeowner, the community, and the broader housing ecosystem that depends on stable, durable infrastructure.

  • Matt Posner

    Matt Posner is head of public finance for The Resiliency Company, parent of donor-advised Fund For Good. Resiliency Co. is focused on activating capital into resilience projects and programs in the U.S. Posner has nearly two decades of experience in public finance and policy. He has spent years educating Congressional staff, the U.S. Treasury Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission on public policy and market implications. Posner has created municipal bond benchmarks, public finance impact investing frameworks and built local government best practices regimes on resilience action plans. His consulting firm, Court Street Group, has led various efforts that support elevating public finance as a means to attaining social and environment goals for healthier American communities.

  • Michael Newman

    Michael Newman delivers strategies for safer and stronger homes and businesses so communities can thrive. With nearly 20 years of experience in law and public policy, he currently serves as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). Michael is head of the public policy, partnerships, and code development teams. In 2020, Michael joined IBHS from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he worked on a range of domestic and international policy issues related to climate change, resilience, cybersecurity, and insurance supervision. He now works with a team of scientists and risk communicators to turn IBHS research into real-world impact that enables property owners to prevent avoidable losses.

  • Lars Powell

    Lars Powell is Director of the Center for Risk and Insurance Research (CRIR) at the University of Alabama. CRIR identifies and solves risk and insurance problems with research and education. Dr. Powell has previously worked in both academic and industry roles. Lars is President (2026) of the American Risk and Insurance Association, and a past President of the Risk Theory Society and the Southern Risk and Insurance Association.

  • Sean Kevelighan

    Sean Kevelighan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) since 2016, with more than 25 years of experience in public affairs, communications, and economic policy. Previously, he was Group Head of Public Affairs for Zurich Insurance Group and led strategic communications for Citigroup’s Global Consumer Banking business. In government, Sean served in senior roles during the George W. Bush administration, including spokesperson at the U.S. Treasury, Senior Advisor in the Office of Tax Policy, and Press Secretary for the White House Office of Management and Budget. Earlier, he advised Fortune 100 clients at Edelman and Hill & Knowlton.
